For our second installation in this series, we sat down with our LTL Specialist, Eric Steinbach.
How long have you worked at W.I.S. Logistics? Tell us about your current role here.
I’ve been at W.I.S. Logistics for five years as an LTL Specialist. As an LTL Specialist, I dispatch and manage my customers freight from pickup to delivery. I make sure their freight gets to where it is supposed to go in a timely and safe manner, tracking it daily and keeping them up to date with any changes.
Tell us about a recent accomplishment or experience that made you feel you were
meant for this kind of work.
Any time a customer has an expedited shipment and I can get the freight to them so it doesn’t hold up their production feels great! I love solving problems and helping get the freight to them as quickly as possible so they can meet their deadline. Also, working with the other departments to help get the freight to the customers if they are having difficulties finding a truck is rewarding.
What’s the most interesting project or idea you are working on right now?
There isn’t necessarily a specific one that I’m working on right now, but more of an observation that this last year has been challenging with all the changes that occurred because of the pandemic. It made it more difficult to get freight picked up and delivered because of all the safety measures that were put in place. Thankfully, we managed quite nicely and hopefully we’re at the end of it. It’ll be nice to have things a bit more “normal.”
Why do you like working at W.I.S. Logistics?
Everyone here at W.I.S. Logistics gets along really well with each other and we help each other out when needed. We all go that extra mile for the customer to make sure they are satisfied and happy. We have a great family atmosphere here and I know I can rely on my teammates when needed.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
My kids keep me busy! My kids are in multiple sports and band so I always have a game, concert or a meet to go to. I also coach baseball and I love to go fishing.
