Beyond Vision is a West Allis, Wisconsin-based nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired by creating meaningful employment opportunities and career advancement.
Founded in 1903, Beyond Vision has evolved into a diversified organization serving commercial and federal customers by offering services that include machining, assembly, packaging, kitting and outsource call center.
We recently spoke with Director of Manufacturing Robert Shufelt and Shipping & Receiving Supervisor Dillon Salgado about Beyond Vision’s partnership with W.I.S. Logistics. Robert oversees production, engineering, warehousing, quality and procurement, while Dillon manages shipping, receiving and dock scheduling.
You’ve worked with W.I.S. Logistics for about eight months. Why did you choose W.I.S. Logistics?
During our annual review of freight providers, we met with W.I.S. Logistics to discuss working together. Their bid was competitive, but we were more concerned with building a relationship. Our conversations focused on trust, setting expectations up front and understanding how best to communicate. We both felt the same way: When issues arise, grab a phone and talk through it.

Why is having confidence in your logistics important to you?
Working in both commercial and federal spaces, you must provide accurate, real-time information to your customers. When we say, “A truck is going to arrive,” it arrives. That is the commitment Beyond Vision makes to our customers.
We know W.I.S. Logistics provides accurate intel on where the truck is, when it will deliver and updates on any delays that might happen. Being informed gives us an advantage over other suppliers. In manufacturing, on-time delivery is as important as our quality.
